Open Arms Music Project
The Open Arms Music Project is an initiative that aims to encourage Namibian youth to harness the potential of the music sector by professionalizing them and equipping them with the right resources, knowledge, networks and tools to actively participate in the music scene in order to build a sustainable performing arts industry.
The areas of focus will include Artist Management, Media Training, Online Music Distribution and Revenue Streams, Monetising Digital Content, Publishing and Copyright Law, Music Production, Financial Literacy & Legal Considerations etc. The capacity-building programme will be held in 6 different regions over several months.
The three-day workshop will occur from July to September in the following towns: Windhoek, Ongwediva, Swakopmund, Keetmanshoop, Rundu and Gobabis.
Programme:
Day 1 - An Introduction to the Namibian Entertainment Industry by Kgosi Makaza
Day 2 - A Masterclass on Music Production by Elvo
Day 3 - Building Your Career in the Music Business by Donlu Team
At the end of the workshop one promising artist from each region will be given the opportunity to record, mix and master a lead single. Once completed the song will be uploaded on digital streaming platforms.
Each participant will be given a certificate of participation at the end of the programme that is co-signed by the expert facilitators of each area of focus.
